Poetry: Getting Started
Listen to criticism and try to learn from it, but don’t live or die by it.
When you write a good poem, one you really like, immediately write another. Maybe that one poem was your peak for the night, bit maybe you’re on a roll. There’s only one way to find out.
The bigger your theme, the more important the details are. A poem with Love, Destiny, Hate or other huge themes in the title already has two strikes against it (and I like love poems).
Say what you want to say. Let your readers decide what your poem means.
Feel free to write a bad poem.
Agama Race
I've heard of Rat race,
I've seen track race,
But, Chicken race is amazing!
From picth to pitch, down to the nearest shrubs
Close to the Belfry. It hanged around the gong.
A little stone thrown, would alarm the Villagers.
And it flew to the Acachia tree behind the Vicrage.
As it flew close to the ground, I began to sing.
Come down, come down!
I've heard of Rat race,
I've seen track race,
As the whole village fowls followed!
Can I out run these fowls?
Go up, Go up!
I've heard of Rat race,
I've seen track race,
As it hearkened to my voice!
And it flew a little bit higher
Close to the Vicrage wall.
As all the fowls stood still, setting Agama race.
Fly now, fly now!
I've heard of Rat race,
I've seen track race,
But, Agama race is dangerous!
